Christmas Snack attack!!!

Christmas is just around the corner and so I am starting to stock up the fridge!!
These are 2 recipes for 2 of my favorite cakes...

Marble Cake and Coffee Cake...

Okay the basic premise of both of these are a basic cake mix you will need

3 eggs (weigh them medium ones normally weigh in at 7ozs for all 3)

now we need the same amount in weight of
marge
self raising flour
and granulated sugar!!

okay now what we need to do is:

cream together your sugar and your marge get them bound together and looking awesome!
then add one egg and stir in then another and then the last one!! so you should have a gloopy mess in a bowl by this point!

Marble cake
separate the gloopy mix into 2 bowls about half in each one and in one of the bowls add  1 tblsp cocoa powder and make the mix nice and chocolatey now add the flour and get this looking like a chocolate and a plain cake mix remember because you've split the mixture you will need to do the same with the flour!

okay once these are both mixed put some baking parchment into a cake tin and then add one bowl of the mixture and then the other on top!

get a chopstick or a pallet knife, butter knife and swirl the mix in the tin and do a figure 8 slowly and then rotate the bowl this way its not mixing is creating the marbling effect!

preheat an oven for 180 degrees c or gas mark 6 and bake for 40-45 mins until a knife can be drawn out of the cake clean.

Coffee Cake

Okay so we were at the gloopy mess part with this cake you add the flour and mix until smooth and then add a shot of coffee...now tip of the week do not add a boiling hot espresso into the mix otherwise you will have scrambled eggs in your cake, if you mix granulated coffee in a seperate cup and then add some cold water to cool and then when cold add to your cake mix it will be perfecto!!
Once this is mixed in your cake mix will look golden in colour

add to a baking parchment in a cake tin and sprinkle with granulated sugar on top to give a crunch once baked

again 45 mins at 180 degrees or gas mark 6 when the knife is drawn clean its good to go!!

ENJOY!! These are fun and easy to bake and you can go crazy and add buttermilk icing or creme fresh!!

Master Crafts concrete bowls

Earlier last month Mr Craft made a concrete bowl and decided last weekend to perfect his new obsession, this time using a smaller bowl inside the mould to create the bowl recess making deeper sides and it came out really well!

The next step will be tring other shapes and playing around with different moulds and maybe making some of our own!!

Christmas gift idea....

I have a few friends who are expecting and what better for a little present is a baby's first pair of booties!!

The pattern is a hybrid of a few baby sock patterns and a vintage pair of slippers and the embroidery inspired by Norwegian mittens! quick and fun to make a really nice project to do in front of the TV!

Oh I do LIKE to be beside the seaside...

One of my favorite things about living in Brighton is the fact that even on a dreary gloomy day there's always something about to make you inspired!!

Biro drawings - simple techniques and fun results!

I always take my sketchbook around with me and currently my sketchbook of choice is a brown paged A5 number. Drawing on coloured paper makes thinks interesting aanyway but this past few weeks I have been having lots of fun with liquid paper/ white out/ tippex unlike some paints it leaves quite a smooth surface and doesn't distort the colour of the inks or biros in my case!!

try it out and see what you think!!

Master - craft, crafternoon update!

Despite the truly heinous weather I managed to take some after shots of Mr C's concrete bowl it didn't work out how he wanted to I really,  really like the look of the water trails running down the bowl!

The plan is to repeat this process again but use a little pudding bowl so the walls of the bowl are super thick and chunky, and using a special sandpaper Mr C intends on getting it super smooth and shiny!
A fun but messy project!!
